“We have the ability to grow into something far greater than our original design, if we allow ourselves to be led by desire.”

AN ACORN WILL NEVER GROW INTO A CAR
This is because an acorn contains a blueprint to become an oak tree.
If you slice an acorn open, you won’t see the oak tree, but if you plant it, water it, and feed it, that’s exactly what it will become.
We are the same.
Like the acorn, we’re planted in the womb, watered, and fed, and then shaped by the conditions in which we grow once we’re born. We have a genetic blueprint that influences our physical form and personality. But where we differ, is in our capacity to expand beyond this. We have the ability to grow into something far greater than our original design, if we allow ourselves to be led by desire.
You might know desire as wanting to live in a certain kind of house, or dreaming of a six-figure book deal, or wishing to meet someone kind and adventurous.
Desire originates from the essence of who we are – an energy, spirit, or soul, seeking expression through us. It’s like the lifeforce in an acorn, which pushes it to seek the sun. But unlike the acorn, whose journey is predetermined, our desire can lead us to grow far beyond our original blueprint, in an infinite number of directions, if we let that desire lead us.
THE CHALLENGE OF DESIRE
Where many of us get stuck is in how others respond to our desires. For two years, I dreamed of meeting an American man with college-aged kids, someone who would share my love of adventure and creativity. When I shared this dream, I often heard scepticism: ‘Why an American? That sounds so impractical!’ or ‘Why college-aged kids? Isn’t that too specific?’
Doubt crept in, and at times I questioned if my desire was foolish. Growing beyond our blueprint is hard enough without the voices of others casting shade over our seed.
As I developed self-awareness, I noticed these doubts were symptoms of my limited blueprint, reflecting beliefs I’d internalised about what was realistic or possible. Here’s where we come back to the idea that an acorn can only grow into an oak tree, whereas we can be anything we want. The key is self-awareness – noticing everything that keeps us tied to our original blueprint.
We all share the same limited programming as the acorn. Some of us are held back by fear of being different, others by concerns about handling success. Self-awareness allows us to choose: act according to limitations OR desires.
Over time, I grew proud and excited of my yearning for an American man with college-aged kids who would also be younger than me. I learned to distinguish between the voice of my lifeforce and the voices of doubt. This gave me the power to decide: stay with my old, fear-shaped blueprint, or align with my desires and let them guide me?
Through self-awareness, I nurtured a new voice – one that supported the energy, spirit, and soul guiding me towards something greater. I realised my desires weren’t random; they were part of a deeper calling, inviting me to grow into the person I was meant to become.
Wanting isn’t about getting. Getting is a side benefit. Wanting is about growing.
THE WISDOM OF NATURE
Nature teaches this beautifully. Seeds grow by surrendering to the lifeforce within them – an unseen propulsion, an ever-present urge. Though invisible, we see its results in the plant’s growth. Spending time in nature attunes us to this magical force that guides all creation. Seeds don’t resist or question their worthiness. They don’t compare themselves to others, worrying about how bright they bloom.
As humans, we resist! Caught in the ‘man-made’ world of social media, shopping and materialism, we forget the invisible lifeforce within us. Instead, we compare ourselves, believe others have something we lack. This keeps us stuck in a limited blueprint. Rather than growing into our full potential, we supress the energy wanting to move through us.
When this happens, we can feel lethargic, stuck or unmotivated. These feelings signal we’re blocking our lifeforce, caught in an unconscious pattern that stifles the beautiful energy meant to flow freely. That’s why I’ve dedicated my monthly, online Chakra Yoga and Journaling workshops to helping others release these unconscious patterns and reconnect with their dreams. (See my offerings below for more information on this.)
WANTING IS ABOUT GROWING BEYOND WHERE YOU ARE
It’s an impeccable system – pure magic! At every moment, we can act according to our limited program and stay confined to growing into an oak tree, or follow our desires, letting the energy flowing through us elevate us to a new level of existence.
Your current results reveal where you are – a reflection of your blueprint. Sometimes, they expose painful truths, showing areas you’re still limited. Our instinct is to deny this, but this means rejecting the chance to create a new blueprint aligned with your deepest essence.
In the past, my relationship results mirrored a blueprint of settling, shaped by an unconscious belief that I was insignificant and unimportant.
Practices like Chakra Yoga, Breathwork and Journaling helped me see how I was different from an acorn! By listening to my intuition’s magical whisper, I could grow beyond limitations and create better results – building from truth, not trauma. The latter produced photocopies of old glitches, while creating from truth generated an entirely new image.
This is what I call Safe Creativity, where we tune into the perfection within us, seeking authentic expression. My seven-month Safe Creativity series begins this Wednesday, exploring the roots of creativity – how healthy roots support growth, while damaged ones limit us, creating those glitchy photocopies. Check my offerings below for more information.
RECLAIMING THE LOST PARTS OF OURSELVES
In my Shamanic training, I learned about Soul Retrieval, a beautiful practice of recovering lost aspects of ourselves that remain pure and untainted, waiting to be reintegrated. These lost parts often represent the energy, potential, and wisdom we abandoned due to trauma, fear, or societal conditioning.
I see this as an organ transplant with healthy tissue that belonged to us before life took its toll. But we must prepare our body and mind to receive this perfect tissue; otherwise we risk rejecting or contaminating it.
For me, this meant recognising and healing the beliefs that kept me settling in relationships. For years, I carried the belief: ‘No one has time for me. I should just be grateful for what I get.’ But as I healed, I realised these beliefs weren’t truths; they were limitations.
Nature has been my skilled, entirely free surgeon, guiding me through this transplant process. She revealed each wound – the festering areas that would have contaminated my transplant – and helped me upgrade my thoughts and feelings so the pure, perfect tissue could integrate.
It’s not who we think we are that holds us back, it’s who we think we’re not.
When it comes to our dreams it’s okay to feel unprepared – they’re designed to help us grow. We only need to prepare ourselves to receive them, to carry the seed of our true self, and let that flourish within us.
A VISION OF TRANSFORMATION
I remember a powerful meditation where I envisioned myself walking barefoot through a forest. The ground was covered in soft, dry leaves and I felt a warm comfort on the soles of my feet, as well as a complete softening in my body, as the earth tenderly caught my steps. An overwhelming sense of being supported and significant filled me, as if every part of me mattered. Gone was the notion of being ‘overly demanding’ or seeing myself as low down on a long list. This limited blueprint came from a mother who was doing her best but was unable to meet my needs with the comfort and safety I desired.
As the forest floor held me, I realised the healing that comes when we ground and connect.
I could be held.
I could be met.
I didn’t need to settle anymore.
In the vision, I turned to a magnificent tree with branches like open arms: not just waiting or inviting me, but utterly perfect for this new, transplanted version of me.
I stretched out my arm and pointed, watching as the tree mirrored my shape. I understood the wisdom nature offered: my dream man already existed – he always had – and he would reach for me the more I reached for him.
Last year, I met my dream man in Colorado, near Beaver Creek, just as my intuition had told me: an American with college-aged kids, younger than me. Someone I feel safe with. Someone who sees me as I truly am.
This wasn’t a coincidence. It happened because I allowed my dream to transform me. I became the version of myself who could attract and receive the relationship I had been longing for.
THE CALL OF 2025
As we step into a new year, I invite you to reflect on your own dreams. What are they asking of you? Are they inviting you to grow beyond your current limitations? Are they challenging you to release old patterns and step into a new version of yourself?
I want more than anything to support this growth, this dream. In fact, I’ve created a series of online workshops that will take place over the next seven months that will guide you to nurture your inner lifeforce, rewrite old blueprints, and grow into the most authentic, vibrant version of yourself. You can find out more in my offerings below.
The process of growth isn’t always easy. It requires self-awareness, courage, and a willingness to let go of what no longer serves you. But the rewards are profound. When you align with your desires, you tap into the limitless potential of your true nature. You become a co-creator with the energy, spirit, or soul that’s guiding you.
As always, wishing you creative contentment.
